The next century is going to turn the world upside down. The Internet combines people and ideas faster than they have ever been combined before. And that combination changes everything... The great thing about technology is that it forces us to figure out the world from scratch. In so doing, it gives us a chance to rediscover what's really important. So maybe the 21st century won't turn your world upside down. Maybe it will turn that world right side up.
Because we don't believe in technological change (we only say we do), we accept bad computer products with a shrug; we work around them, make the best of them and (like fatalistic sixteenth-century French peasants) barely even notice their defects ‹ instead of demanding that they be fixed and changed.
Whatever can be done will be done... Technological change and its effects are inevitable. Stopping them is not an option.
Andy Grove
I do not use the Internet myself. I began as a small kid with a typewriter. Now as technology gets more advanced, I'm back to handwriting notes. Resistance is futile.
The
Borg Collective (Star Trek)
If we surrender ourselves to industrial rules Listen to the technology. Find out what it is telling you.
Carver
Mead Technology is the campfire around which we gather.
